Police Increase Reward for Shooting Suspect

Victim's family also makes plea for information

Police in Mongtomery County, Md., are upping the ante in an effort to find the alleged triggerman in a fatal shooting last August.

At a news conference Monday, they announced a $5,000 reward for information leading to the whereabouts of 18-year-old Tyshon Jones.

"Someone knows where Tyshon Jones is," said Lt. Robert Bolesta of the County's Major Crimes Division.

"This indidual is a cold-blooded murderer, and he needs to be brought to justice," added Bolesta.

Police said Jones and three others were trying to rob 27-year-old Julian Kelly, as he returned home from work Aug. 21, 2010.

He got off a bus and struggled with his attackers in the 14000 block of Castle Boulevard in the Briggs Chaney area of Silver Spring. Kelly was shot and died at the University of Maryland Medical Center on Sept. 4, 2010.

Police have arrested three suspects and have an arrest warrant charging Jones with murder.

Officials said they've received tips suggesting Jones has been seen in Silver Spring, where he has family. They are placing sign boards in the area and are distributing posters and fliers.

Meanwhile, Kelly's family also reached out for help.

"I can't emphasize enough how this year has been rather difficult for us to deal with," said Kisha Kelly, the victim's sister. "I beg of the community to look within their hearts, to find it within themselves to want to help a family solve a murder that has taken someone away that meant the world to them."
