Police Impersonator Beats, Robs Woman in Maryland

A man pretending to be a police officer pulled over a woman in Maryland, and then beat and robbed her in broad daylight.

Maryland State Police say the woman was driving on U.S. Route 13 in Salisbury when a dark, unmarked car with emergency lights in the dash pulled up behind her.

It happened just before noon Wednesday.

Thinking the man was an officer, the woman pulled over. But police say the man walked up to her window and immediately began assaulting her. He also robbed her.

The 61-year-old woman was taken to a hospital with head, neck and other injuries.

Maryland State Police are reminding drivers that if they're unsure whether they're being pulled over by police, they can drive to a more public place or call 911.
