Police: Man Shoots Wife in Apparent Murder-Suicide Attempt

A woman's frantic call to 911 was interrupted when her husband shot her Thursday night in what appears to be an attempted murder-suicide.

According to Maryland State Police, Angela Dean, 43, called 911 just before midnight to report that her husband, 48-year-old James Daniel Dean, was loading a gun following an argument between the two in their Hollywood, Md., home.

During the phone call -- which police said lasted less than a minute -- the dispatcher heard gunshots.

When officers arrived and entered the home in the 43000 block of Johnson Road, they found both Deans suffering from gunshot wounds.

James Daniel Dean, who suffered an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Angela Dean was transported the Prince George's Hospital Trauma Unit, where she is being treated for her injuries.
