Police Called to Diplomat's Townhouse Before Fire Erupts

Investigators are looking into whether a domestic disturbance may have played a role into a townhouse fire in Montgomery County Monday night.

The fire started around 10 p.m. on Greenleaf Avenue in Potomac, Maryland. Public records show the house is being rented by an official with the Embassy of Mali.

Investigators say the fire started in an upstairs bedroom. There was significant damage to the townhouse and to two adjacent townhomes.

Police were called to the residence earlier in the day.

The fire caused about $300,000 in damage. No one was injured.
