Metro Police Arrest Graffiti Artist for Vandalism

Metro Transit Police arrested a New York graffiti artist for vandalizing Metro railcars.

Metro police said they arrested Jordan Reese McConeghy, 24, of Brooklyn Wednesday on charges of felony property destruction.

The charges relate to an incident February 12 when two Metro cars were spray-painted with graffiti in the West Falls Church Yard.

Metro estimated the damage from the graffiti totaled about $5,400.

Police said McConeghy was arrested in 2014 for defacing railcars at Shady Grove Yard and Glenmont Yard; they said he has previous graffiti-related arrests in Georgia, Texas, California, Michigan and Virginia.

McConeghy faces a felony charge of intentional property damage exceeding $1,000, Metro said, as well as lesser charges including trespassing.
