Flight to D.C. Diverted After Report of Passenger Threats

A plane headed to Dulles International Airport from St. Louis, Ohio was diverted Thursday after reports that a disruptive passenger made threatening statements.

A United Express flight headed to Washington landed safely at Port Columbus International Airport, airport spokesman David Whitaker said.

The plane was isolated while the FBI removed the 53 people on board and used dogs to search luggage. No problems were found and most people were allowed to resume their travels, Whitaker said.

Two people interviewed by the FBI were released, and no one was immediately charged. Whitaker said he couldn't provide further information about those people or the alleged threats.

Airport operations were briefly disrupted, forcing another plane to divert to Dayton, Ohio.
