Petworth Hammer Attack Victim Speaks

Man says he was assaulted last Thursday afternoon

A man who chose not to be identified told News4's Darcy Spencer that he was attacked with a hammer last Thursday afternoon while walking his dog in the Petworth neighborhood of northwest Washington.

The man said he was struck in the head by a teen while walking in the 200 block of Ingraham Street. He told News4 he was knocked down, and remained unconscious for several minutes. Michael Davis, 19, is suspected in a series of hammer attacks.

Davis was arrested later that evening after allegedly attacking a 19-year-old woman with a claw hammer, fracturing her skull.

The first victim did not report the crime until the next day.

Davis is currently being charged in two attacks and is suspected in three more. One of the attacks claimed the life of a Colorado tourist, and all of the attacks have occurred in the Petworth neighborhood.
