Person of Interest Sought in May Shooting at Charles Co. McDonald's

Charles County detectives have released photos of a person of interest in the fatal shooting that took place in a McDonald’s parking lot on May 20.

The woman is not a suspect, but detectives are searching for her and want to talk to her. Anybody with information can call Det. John Elliott at (301) 609-6515.

The shooting killed 25-year-old Robert Michael Mange and injured his 24-year-old wife. Police have charged 26-year-old Richard Conway and his mother, 51-year-old Caroline Conway, with murder.

Richard Conway and the female victim had previously been in a relationship and were having a custody dispute, according to investigators.

On May 20, the victims met the suspects at McDonald’s in Waldorf, Maryland in order to pick up the female victim’s two children, who had been staying with Caroline Conway. Police say Conway allegedly got into the couple’s car and shot Mange, then shot Mange’s wife as she tried to flee.

Although Caroline Conway fired the gun, police say her son participated in the crime.

Richard Conway was an off-duty police officer with the Prince George’s County Police Department at the time of the shooting. He has since been suspended without pay, according to Prince George’s County Police Chief Mark Magaw.

At the scene of the crime, officers found ammunition consistent with Prince George’s County police officers’ handguns. Detectives are investigating whether Conway’s service weapon was used to commit the crime.
