Person of Interest Sought After Shooting of Man, 23, in Shaw

Police are seeking a new person of interest in connection to the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Matthew Shlonsky in Shaw earlier this month.

Andre Dudley, 19, is sought by the Metropolitan Police Department regarding the death of Shlonsky, a recent American University graduate. On the afternoon of Aug. 15, Shlonsky was walking near the Shaw-Howard University Metro station when he was fatally shot.

Dudley should be considered armed and dangerous, police said. He is also being sought as a burglary suspect. Police have a warrant charging Dudley with burglarizing a home on the 4200 block of Argyle Terrace NW on Aug. 12.

Police previously said they believe three people caught on video at that crime scene were in a burgundy Chrysler 300 when Shlonsky was shot.

Another suspect in Shlonsky's death turned himself in earlier this month, but said before surrendering that he was innocent. That man, 19-year-old Marcus King, told News4's Mark Segraves in an exclusive interview that he was nearby when Shlonsky was caught in crossfire about 4:45 p.m. in the 1800 block of 7th Street NW, but that he was not involved.

Anyone with information on Dudley is asked to call police at 202-727-9099, or submit information anonymously by sending a text message to 50411.
