Person Fatally Struck by VRE Train

Trains on VRE's Manassas Line were canceled Wednesday after a person was fatally struck by a train.

Officers were called to the scene near Clara Barton Drive around 5:30 a.m. The victim's identity has not been released.

Passengers kept on the train for three hours were transported to their destination by several buses at Manassas Park.

VRE plans to run on an "S'' schedule in the evening.

The scene is just over a mile away from where a woman was fatally struck by a Manassas-bound VRE train earlier this year. Police say the woman was wearing headphones and likely did not hear the train coming.
