Metro Employee Fatally Struck by Train in Md.

A Metro employee was fatally struck by a CSX train near the Greenbelt station early Monday morning.

The employee may have been intentionally on the tracks, sources tell News4's Transportation Reporter Adam Tuss.

Officers were called to the area of Sunnyside Avenue and Edmonston Road at 12:20 a.m.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His or her name hasn't been released.

The New York-bound train was traveling on the northbound CSX tracks at the time of the accident. The 57-car train was carrying food products.

Trains on MARC's Camden Line use the same tracks, but a CSX official says MARC trains should be able to use an alternate line of tracks. No delays have been reported.
