As usual preceding a presidential inauguration, Pennsylvania Avenue is being repaved between Third and 14th Streets in northwest D.C.

Repaving was scheduled to begin Tuesday night, according to the D.C. Department of Transportation. The overnight work, which is done to prepare for the parade Jan. 21, is expected to last about 10 days.

During repaving the bicycle lanes running the length of the middle of the avenue will disappear. They will return when the work is done.

According to the D.C. Department of Transportation, the $2 million repaving is paid for by D.C. The city will seek reimbursement from the federal government as part of the usual costs associated with the quadrennial inaugural celebrations.
