Police in Anne Arundel County are investigating the death of a pedestrian in Arnold Saturday night.

Investigators say that shortly after 9 p.m., a Volvo driven by Larry Madsen, 57, of Annapolis, struck 20-year-old Thomas Becker, of Severn, on College Parkway near Bellrive Road. Becker was pronounced dead at the scene. Madsen and his passenger, 57-year-old Margaret Madsen, suffered minor injuries.

According to the initial investigation, Madsen's Volvo was traveling west on College Parkway when it struck Becker. Authorities say that Becker was walking in the travel lane of the road and was wearing dark, non-reflective clothing.

The investigation is ongoing, but pedestrian error is currently listed as the primary cause of the crash. There were no marked crosswalks or pedestrian signals near the crash site.
