Church Volunteer Accused of Sending Sexually Explicit Messages to Teen

A volunteer at a Haymarket, Virginia, church was arrested Thursday and charged with sending sexually explicit messages to a 15-year-old girl, according to Prince William County Police.

Vincent Gunnar Bowes, 22, is charged with attempted indecent liberties with a minor and use of a communication device to facilitate certain offenses involving a minor. Police say Bowes volunteered at Park Valley Church.

A Special Victims Unit investigation revealed that Bowes used the smart phone application "KIK" to send sexually explicit messages to the teen Aug. 20.

Church staff learned of the incident and reported the encounter to police. No physical contact was made between the pastor and teen, police said.

Bowes was located and arrested in North Carolina.

The court date for this case is pending.
