Cat's Leg Amputated After Pellet Gun Shooting

Someone shot a pet cat with a high-powered pellet gun, shattering the cat’s leg, which had to be amputated, police said.

Maximus was found injured along Colebrook Street in La Plata, Maryland, the evening of May 2.

The owner thought someone hit Maximus with a car, but doctors at an emergency animal clinic determined the cat was shot.

Maximus continues receiving treatment at the clinic.

His owner and her 10-year-old daughter have been caring for Maximus ever since he jumped into her car, weighing less than two pounds at the time.

When no one claimed him, they took him in, and he’s grown to 12 pounds.
