Panels to Examine Pepco Reliability

Two independent blue ribbon panels will examine Pepco’s recent reliability and restoration issues, Pepco’s Chairman, President and CEO Joseph M. Rigby announced Thursday.

The purpose of the panels is to allow customers of the power company in Prince George’s County, Md., and the District to give direct feedback on service reliability, Pepco said.

Former Maryland Public Service Commission Chairman Glenn Ivey will lead the blue ribbon panel in Prince George’s County, while former principal Deputy Corporation Counsel for the District of Columbia Claude E. Bailey will lead the panel in the District, Rigby announced Thursday.

Ivey and Bailey will select members for each panel that will be comprised of a diverse cross-section of community, government and business leaders, says Pepco.  The panels will hold a series of town hall meetings and will meet with leaders from the Montgomery County Pepco Reliability Work Group.

The panels will provide recommendations from the community to Pepco at the end of the process, slated to be completed by this July.
