PD: Women Stealing Checks From Mail Boxes

Two women are wanted for stealing checks, usually bill payments, out of Charles County, Md. mailboxes and attempting to cash them, police said.

According to officials, the cases have been reported throughout the county. In at least two incidents, two different women attempted to cash those checks at banks in different cities and states.

News4's Erika Gonzalez spoke with Irene Poole, whose mail was stolen as her husband was running back inside of their home to add another letter to the mailbox.

"We feel violated," Poole said. "We just had something taken from us."

Her husband, Billy Poole, a retired Sheriff's deputy, saw a red truck near his home before and after the mail was stolen.

Irene and Billy's checks for life insurance and other bills were not cashed succesfully by the women, but police say other victims were not so lucky.
