Police: Teen Stabbed Family Puppy

A 14-year-old Maryland teen has been charged with animal cruelty for allegedly stabbing his family's puppy to death.

According to Anne Arundel County Police, officers responded to a home in the 200 block of Mountain Road in Linthicum Monday for a disturbance.

Inside the 14-year-old's bedroom, they found the teen covered in blood with the deceased 10-week-old St. Bernard puppy. A kitchen knife was found at the foot of the bed.

Police say there are no prior animal control reports to the home, and investigation shows the puppy did not provoke the teen.

The teen did not tell police why he stabbed the puppy and was charged with animal cruelty on a juvenile citation. He has since been released back into his father's custody.
