A Fredericksburg man is accused of beating another man with a baseball bat -- during a holiday event.

According to Fredericksburg.com, Sidney Derise, 64, faces a misdemeanor assault charge.  A Stafford man told officers he was with his family on Princess Anne Street Saturday night when he confronted Derise after hearing him yell alleged obscene remarks to parade participants. That led to an alleged exchange on Derise’s front porch.

Fredericksburg.com reported that Derise allegedly went in his house, came back out with an aluminum baseball bat and struck the Stafford man in the back of the head.

The victim had on heavy clothes and told police he was not hurt badly.
