Pat Collins talks to the mother and friend of the siblings struck by a hit and run driver in District Heights, Md.

Police are looking for a car that struck and killed a woman and critically injured a man before the driver took off.

The accident happened around 5 p.m. Wednesday evening along Walker Mill Road in District Heights, Md.

Prince George's County police identified the woman as 28-year-old Krystal Brown. The man was her 20-year-old brother, NBC Washington's Pat Collins reported. The brother is in critical but stable condition.

The siblings were with a group of people crossing County Road to Walker Mill Road when they were hit by the car, police said.

The area where the accident happened is poorly lit, and six overhead street lights are out as well.

Witnesses described the car involved as a gold-colored early '90s Honda Accord.

Police urge anyone who sees the car to call them immediately.
