An Upper Marlboro man who tried to set himself on fire inside a Bowie grocery store is now facing charges, fire officials in Prince George's County announced Thursday.

Markus DeAngelo Callends, 19, is accused of dousing himself and other products in the Central Avenue store with an ignitable liquid. He tried to start a fire but failed, Prince George's County Fire spokesman Mark Brady said.

Callends has been charged with first degree attempted arson and reckless endangerment. Both are felonies. He faces up to 35 years in prison if found guilty of both charges.
