Officers Shoot Man Wielding Crowbar in Manassas, Va.: Police

Officers shot a man wielding a crowbar in Manassas, Virginia, Prince William County Police said.

A homeowner reported a man was hiding in a bush on her property on Lake Drive about 2:10 p.m. Wednesday, officers said.

Officers saw the man walking along a creek, police said. He brandished a crowbar and raised it toward officers, police said.

The officers repeatedly ordered the man to drop the crowbar, and used pepper spray, but the man crossed the creek into Fairfax County, police said.

The officers followed the man, who turned toward them while raising the crowbar, investigators said.

The officers shot at the man, striking him in the upper body, police said. The man was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive. The officers were not injured.

Charges are pending against the 22-year-old suspect.
