Officer Injured During Motorcade in NW Washington

Officer Struck By Car on Connecticut Ave, NW

A D.C. police officer was rushed to the hospital by ambulance Monday night after he was hit by a car during a presidential motorcade.

It happened about 6:30pm, in the 4500 block of Connecticut Avenue NW.

Officers were stationed at side streets along the route, prohibiting access to Connecticut Avenue as the President's motorcade traveled from the White House to a fundraiser at a private home.

The officer, from the Special Operations Division, was struck by a car and knocked to the ground.

He has injuries to his legs, arms, and head, and was taken to a local hospital.  Police said his injuries are non-life threatening.

The driver of the car that struck the officer remained on the scene.
 
No word yet on any charges.
