Police in Baltimore County are investgating a shooting that injured an off-duty officer in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police say the officer, whose name has not been released, was shot twice at the intersection of Dale Avenue and Danville Road in Overlea shortly before 3:30 a.m. The victim was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center with non-life threatening injuries, was treated, and later released.

Investigators say that the victim was driving his car when he came across a large group of people blocking the street. When the victim asked the group to clear the street so he could pass, police say a man came out of the crowd and fired several shots into the car.
