Obama Visits With Student Inventors in Alexandria

President Barack Obama paid a visit to one of the top high schools in the country Friday -- Thomas Jefferson High School in Alexandria, Va.

Jefferson is a magnet school for students gifted in science and technology, and on Friday, the students had the opportunity to show off some of their work.

Later the president signed a bill called the 'America Invents' Act. It's the first significant change in patent law in more than 50 years. The law is meant to streamline the patent process and also reduce the cost of legal battles over patents.

'It will help start--ups and small business owners patent their ideas three times faster than they do today," Obama said.
