The Dulles Town Center Mall is back open after a major scare that still has some shoppers wondering, what happened. The mall was evacuated this afternoon after reports of a man on the loose, with a gun. But no gunman was found. News4's Derrick Ward has more on how this whole situation started.
Despite a flurry of activity at the Dulles Town Center on Saturday, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said there was no shooting and no weapon at the location.
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible shooting at the shopping area in Sterling, Virginia around 1:45 p.m.
Liz Mills, director of media relations and communications for the police, said there was no shooting or gunman seen at the mall. Deputies learned the caller overheard two females talking about a possible shooting and that they had to leave.
The two females could not be located and have not contacted law enforcement. Out of an abundance of caution, the mall complex was searched and nothing suspicious was located.
The mall remains closed at this time, but is expected to open shortly.
