Washington drivers should brace themselves for major traffic changes Monday morning.
The District Department of Transportation is testing a new “virtual circle” at the intersection of New York and Florida Avenues in Northeast Washington.
First Street is now one way from Florida Avenue to New York Avenue.
Florida Avenue is one way between O Street and First Street. Eastbound Florida Avenue traffic will be detoured to First Street. Southbound Eckington Place traffic will have to use First Street.
The $3 million dollar reconfiguration project is designed to improve circulation and decrease accidents.
