Almost 50 Cats Found on Property in Calvert County

Sherrif's Office found cats while serving eviction

Almost 50 cats were located in and around a home by the Calvert County Sheriff's Office.

Police said they were serving an eviction notice yesterday at a house off of Back Creek Road in Dowell, Md., when they noticed dozens of cats on the property.

Twenty-seven cats were found inside the home while 20 cats were found outside. Jean Michaud, 60, who lives at the home was inside when officers arrived. One of the cats was found dead in Michaud's bedroom along with two other cats suffering from bulging eyes due to an upper respiratory infection. Additionally, one of the cats outside was diagnosed with neurological abnormalities.

Animal control has already taken a trip back to the home to see if they can find any more stray cats.

As for the group who survived, they are now at the  tri-County Animal shelter  in need of homes. You can contact the shelter by calling (301) 932-1713.
