National Theatre to Bring ‘Newsies,' ‘Pippin'

The National Theatre is planning four Washington premieres for its 2014-2015 season of Broadway shows.

The theater announced Monday that the Tony Award-winning productions of "Pippin'' and "Newsies'' will play multiple-week engagements. The season will also feature the start of the North American tour of "Dirty Dancing: The Classic Story on Stage.''

The theater also will host the Washington premiere of "Donny and Marie: Christmas at the National'' with Donny and Marie Osmond.

The season also includes "Chicago the Musical'' and the return of Dame Edna Everage in "Dame Edna and Barry Humphries' The Final Farewell Tour.''

The National is again offering a subscription series for its revived schedule. The full package includes all six shows.
