Communities throughout the DMV are hosting community events, festivals and walks to celebrate National Night Out Thursday.
The events are designed to show a united and positive community reponse to crime.
In D.C., the citywide kickoff will be held at 5 p.m. at the Takoma Community Center, 300 Van Buren Street. The theme of the event is "Bridging the Gap" between youth and seniors.
