Visitors to the National Mall in Washington now have access to free Wi-Fi Internet.
Local and federal authorities granted free wireless Internet access on the National Mall. They added 220 free Wi-Fi hotspots between Third and 14th Streets as an expansion of Washington’s Free Internet Initiative.
The network is called "D.C. Wi-Fi."
The Smithsonian Institution, U.S. Department of Agriculture and the private company Cisco all had a hand in getting the system up and running.
The free Wi-Fi will improve the National Mall for Washington residents and visitors alike, city officials said.
