NTSB Releases Preliminary I-95 Bus Crash Report

Federal report offers no explanation for why the bus went off the road

On Thursday, the NTSB released its preliminary report on last week’s deadly tour bus crash without giving any speculation as to what caused the crash.

Federal investigators failed to mention the mechanical condition of the motorcoach or the driver’s state at the time of the crash.

Four passengers died when the Sky Express veered off I-95 near King’s Dominion on May 31.

The NTSB report did confirm that the bus went off the road, hit a guardrail, flipped over and landed about 460 feet away.

The driver, Kin Yiu Cheung, is currently being held without bond on vehicular manslaughter charges related to the crash.

An investigation by Virginia State Police indicates that Cheung was extremely tired at the time of the crash.
