NATO'S only North American command is undergoing a leadership change.

Supreme Allied Command Transformation commander General Stephane Abrial of the French Air Force will hand over command to General Jean-Paul Paloméros on Friday. Palomeros is also in the French Air Force. Abrial was the first non-American to hold the post when he took over in 2009.

NATO'S Allied Command Transformation in Norfolk is responsible for training member nations and helps define what future military operations for the alliance will look like, among other things. There are about 600 military and civilian employees attached to NATO ACT in Norfolk.

NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen will be attending Friday's ceremony in downtown Norfolk.
