This holiday season, there will be some 4-legged security at Prince William County malls.

Mounted patrols will be making the rounds, keeping shoppers safe through the end of this holiday season.

The Prince William County  Mounted Patrol Unit was put together to bring citizens and the police force closer together.  The horses and their riders have taken part in search and rescue, crime prevention, and crowd control duties.  The horses are shared with the Manassas National Battlefield and the National Park Service.

On Thursday, News4's cameras caught up the with mounted police at Potomac Mills shopping center.  Click the video above to catch them in action.
