Mother of Teen Killed in Medevac Crash Sues FAA

The mother of a teen killed in a 2008 medevac is suing the Federal Aviation Administration alleging that air traffic controllers gave the pilot inaccurate weather information, The Baltimore Sun reported.

The suit was filed Monday in U.S. District Court in Greenbelt by Stephanie Younger, whose 17-year-old daughter, Ashley, and her friend, Jordan Wells, were being flown to a hospital after a car accident when the helicopter crashed.

The pilot, a paramedic, an emergency medical technician and Younger were killed. Wells was the sole survivor.

The National Transportation Safety Board concluded that a combination of factors caused the crash, including outdated weather information and a pilot not proficient in instrument landing approaches.

The lawsuit does not specify an amount of damages.
