Mother Leaves Child For Hours in Casino Parking Garage

A Maryland mother has been charged with child abuse after leaving her 4-year-old child unattended at a casino parking garage for approximately eight hours.

According to Anne Arundel County Police, crews responded to a Maryland Live! Casino parking garage around 6:30 p.m. on New Year's Eve for an unattended child inside a parked car.

An investigation revealed that the child's mother, 24-year-old Alicia D. Brown of Baltimore, entered the garage around 10 a.m. then went to the casino.

The child appeared to be in good health and showed no signs of physical abuse. According to a police report, blankets covered the rear windows of the vehicle so that no one could see the child inside.

Brown was charged with child abuse, confining an unattended child and neglect of a minor. She was released on a $150,000 bond Wednesday.

President and General Manager of Maryland Live! Casino Rob Norton released the following statement to News4:

"Incidents of parental neglect and lack of personal responsibility are disturbing. We are thankful that our security team was able to intervene and get the appropriate authorities involved and that we found the child unharmed."
