Mother Arrested After Toddler Left in Car

A Spotsylvania County mother was arrested as an indirect result of her 13-year-old's potty mouth, reports Fredericksburg.com.

Around 6:20 p.m. Sunday, a resident of Club Cart Circle, a townhouse community in Fredericksburg, Va., noticed a young teen boy cursing at a smaller boy who was on top of a car. Despite the day's high temperatures, there was also a two-year-old girl strapped into a car seat in the vehicle.

The neighbor was concerned about the children's well-being due to the heat -- but when she asked where their mother was, the kids said they didn't know.

She gave the children water and called authorities. While they waited, she knocked on doors for about 10 minutes and finally located the mother of the 13-year-old, four-year-old and two-year-old, Nicole Nadine Burner, 31, at a nearby home.

"[Sheriff's Lt. Col. Michael] Timm said police don't know why the woman was there or why she parked on a different street," Fredericksburg.com reports.

Burner, 31, of Ruther Glen, Va., was charged with three counts of felony child neglect. She was placed in the Rappahannock Regional Jail under a $7,500 bond.
