More Than 100 Kids Enrolled in Nationals' Camp

More than 100 students are participating in a summer program run by the Washington Nationals to help students develop baseball and softball as well as academic skills.

The Nationals' first summer academy program begins Monday. The team says 108 students from the city's wards 7 and 8 are participating. They include a number of rising fourth- and fifth-grade students who participated in the team's inaugural after school program this year, as well as 36 rising third-graders.

The students will attend the program five days a week and will play baseball and softball while also improving their reading, writing, science, and math skills. They will also take field trips to the National Zoo, the United States Botanic Garden and other places.
