A man is in critical condition after a shooting in Montgomery County Monday night.

Police responded to a call in the 1100 block of Good Hope Drive in Silver Spring around 8:45 p.m., where a homeowner there told police he'd gotten into an argument with a female acquaintance and a man he didn't know.

They were both gone when police arrived, but the homeowner told them that he shot the man, who had left and driven himself to the hospital.

Around the same time, police got a call from a nearby hospital where a man had arrived with a gunshot wound. He remains hospitalized in serious condition.

Police believe that he is the man the homeowner shot.

Detectives are taking over the investigation. No charges had been filed as of mid-day Tuesday.
