Detectives in Montgomery County are knocking on doors and handing out fliers, hoping someone can help them solve the month-old murder of a 60-year-old man who was attacked outside his home in Montgomery Village.
"Somebody knows who did this, and they need to really come forward," said Montrea Davis, a friend of the victim, Bradley Colmes.
Colmes left his townhouse on Ridgeline Drive for his usual evening walk on June 12. During his walk, he was attacked.
He returned home with grave injuries, including a shattered jaw. He was rushed to the hospital, but he died five days later.
He was able to tell detectives that a group of at least 20 young people saw the attack and then left walking in the direction of the Montgomery Village shopping center.
"There was the individual or individuals involved in the fight, and then at least 20 additional that are watching," said Capt. Darren Francke of Montgomery County police.
Colmes was a veteran and retired landscaper who had been with his partner, Bobby Williams, for more than 20 years.

"I always thought we were supposed to grow old together," Williams said. "It will take a while before I will get over it, but I don't think it will be any time soon."
Police are hoping that a $10,000 reward and the ability to remain anonymous may prompt a member of that group that saw the attack to call 911 with information.
"Why should they come forward?" asked Rory Summerour, a friend of Colmes'. "A clear conscience. A clear conscience."
