Brazen Robbers Snatch Money From Couriers Entering D.C. Banks

Police say money couriers have been the target in a series of thefts near banks in northeast Washington.

Four robberies have been reported this month, and investigators say each time the two men run up and forcibly grab envelopes or bags from money couriers entering banks to make deposits.

Three of the robberies were reported during the day in the 1300 block of 4th Street NE on Aug. 12, 23 and 27. A fourth robbery was reported just over a mile and a half away in the 2100 block Bladensburg Rd NE on Aug. 26.

The men have gotten away with a significant amount of money.

Police say a person of interest in the case can be seen in the surveillance video below.
