A 2-year-old boy is recovering after his day care left him inside a hot van for more than two hours.
The toddler attends New Creation Child Development Center on Alabama Avenue in SE.
His mother, Brittany Lawson, told News4 the day care took a field trip to see a movie on Thursday and left her son in the van.
Lawson said day care workers found her son after the movie, but did not call an ambulance until they returned to the day care. Lawson's son was taken to a hospital.
"This is an unfortunate situation that occurred even with our policies that are in place. We have interviewed our staff and we are reviewing our policies to make certain this does not happen again," New Creation Child Development Center said in a statetment.
Lawson said she has filed a police report.
