Detectives are investigating a stabbing of a 17-year-old boy in the 14900 block of Cobblestone Drive Monday.

According to police, the victim was playing basketball in Stonegate Park when he was approached by two men about 6:40 p.m. Feeling uncomfortable, the victim left the park but was followed by the men and was eventually cornered by a third man, who stabbed him three times with a folding knife.

The three men returned to the park before leaving in an unknown with a girl believed to be 5 or 6 years old who had arrived at the park with the first two men.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the 4th District Investigative Section at 240-773-5530. Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).
