Mistrial in Keith Washington Civil Case

Jury is deadlocked again

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. -- A Prince George's County judge has declared a mistrial after a civil jury deadlocked over whether a former county officer should pay damages for shooting two furniture delivery men, killing one, at his Accokeek home.

The judge declared a mistrial Tuesday after the jury sent him its third note saying it was deadlocked.

Keith Washington, a former county police corporal and Homeland Security official, was sentenced to 45 years in prison for involuntary manslaughter last year.

Shooting survivor Robert White and the parents of Brandon Clark, 22, who was killed, sued Washington and the county seeking more than $300 million in damages. The plaintiffs plan to bring the case again.
