The body of a Virginia Commonwealth University professor who had been reported missing has been found.

Petersburg police say David Primeaux's body was found Friday in Charles City County. He was 62.

Petersburg police said in a news release that a preliminary investigation indicates Primeaux's death was a suicide. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause and time of death.

An online resume indicates that Primeaux had worked at the university since 1996. Primeaux's entry in the staff directory says that he was an associate professor in VCU's computer science department. The page says that Primeaux received two degrees from the University of Louvain in Belgium in 1975, as well as an M.S. degree in computer science from the University of Tennessee in 2000.

Primeaux was reported missing on Thursday. At the time, police said Primeaux may have been in danger, but did not specify what kind.
