Minimum Wage Increases in Montgomery County

Wages go up from $7.25 to $8.40 per hour; will incrase to $11.50 over next four years

Some paychecks will be going up in Montgomery County, where a new minimum wage began Wednesday.

Minimum wage has increased from $7.25 to $8.40 per hour.

The county council voted to gradually increase the minimum wage to $11.50 over the next four years.

County leaders will join minimum wage workers Wednesday morning at the National Labor College to explain the impact the wage increase will have.

Statewide changes are also coming. Starting in January, Maryland’s minimum wage will begin a similar climb to $10.10 per hour, which it will reach by 2018.
