Metro to Repair 47 Recalled Buses

Battery flaw reported in newer vehicles

Metro will start work to retrofit 47 buses that have a potential electrical hazard, the transit agency said Wednesday.

The buses are all Xcelsior models made by New Flyer. The manufacturer issued a voluntary recall last week based on "the potential for an electrical short" in the lithium-ion batteries on the buses, according to Metro.

The bus repairs are expected to wrap up by May. Engineers have deemed the buses safe for continued use until then, Metro said.
