Metro Workers Rally During Rush Hour

Event takes place at Faragut Metro stations during Tuesday morning commute

Metro workers, bus drivers, and members/supporters of the Amalgamated Transit Union will be passing out leaflets to morning commuters at the Farragut North and Farragut West Metro stations on Tuesday morning.

The event will begin at 8 a.m. and is taking place to bring attention to Metro’s proposed fare increases, delays, and station shutdowns. It is being led by ATU International President Larry Hanley, among other transit advocates and leaders.

“We are in the midst of a serious debate on the future of transportation in this country and Congress is moving backwards on this issue in a way that could return us to days of the stagecoaches,” Hanley said.

Metro workers and supporters are expected to rally until around 9 a.m.
