Metro Transit Police will hand out bike locks to people today at the Grosvenor station at Bethesda starting at 8 this morning.

Metro transit police are warning bike owners to keep a close eye on their bikes after a rash of thefts.

Police say there's been a recent spike in bike thefts, including at least 20 in the past few weeks.

Officers even caught two thieves in the act. Police say some riders aren't using locks that are strong enough to deter bike thieves.
