    Metro Transit Police say a man abducted his 15-month-old daughter from her mother at a Metro station Tuesday evening. (Published Wednesday, Jul 23, 2014)

    A man accused of abducting his 15-month-old daughter from her mother at a Metro station has been apprehended, Metro Transit Police say.

    Authorities said 29-year-old Darrel Keith Parker took the little girl around 7:45 p.m. at the Southern Avenue Metro station, located just over the D.C. line in Temple Hills, Maryland.

    A security officer at the MaxWay store at 7726 Landover Road in Hyattsville recognized the toddler from television reports and called 911.  

    When officers arrived, Parker fled the scene. He was arrested a short time later. The toddler is safe.

    Police say the child will be reunited with her mother.
